ABC GUM. If you don't know what the "ABC" stands for, and you can't tell by the picture then ask someone. I put in a new piece every 15 minutes because it lost the flavor, sad.

Illustration Friday

For my Illustration for Publication class, we were asked to illustrate for Illustration Friday. This week's word for Illustration Friday is "DIP", and I did two different versions of this Strawberry dipped in chocolate.

It's finally Friday! I do like Fridays, other than because it means it's the weekend. I have no classes on Fridays!! So every time Thursday rolls around, then it feels like the weekend. Now...some of you hate me already just a little but don't fret because I do have to work on Fridays, so I do have a responsibility that makes me get out of bed in the mornings. I'm actually at work right now and right around this time there is nothing going on so I thought I would write something about this week.

Let's see, so usually my Tuesdays and Thursday are my hardest days because i stay on campus from 9:30 am until 11pm. Okay, so maybe from 5 to 11 I spend that time with Joshua...and only because I rarely get to see him any other day of the week. If there's one thing you need to know about Joshua to understand him, well it's that he's Mexican. When I told him the other day that I was going to blog about him soon, he told me that his name was a copy right so I would have to pay him each time I said Joshua. So I thought to myself, well "would you like that in pennies or skittles sir?" I may have added some candy, chocolate, or extra time with me, but I just thought it was the funniest thing when he really couldn't make up his mind. It's very hard for me to not laugh when I'm with him, and not only is he a best friend person, but he is a spiritually uplifting kind of person. He may not know this, but when I hear him talking about spiritual things with me, it only encourages me and guides me to look at my own spiritual life. Joshua is just what I need to end a long day of classes, and I even got him to watch Lost, Grey's Anatomy, sometimes Vampire Diaries with me!

Well how about you all? What are the plans for this weekend? For some, I know any extra hours of sleep is just the thing they need, or plan to attend a party of two, or even travel some where with friends. Whatever that may be it's always important to remember who we have to thank for waking up every morning to the sun, the friends we have, and just having the resources to do all that we want to do.

Tuesdays

Today is another Tuesday. What are tuesdays for you? I always feel that tuesdays can be either the breaking point of a good or bad day. Let's see to start out, I have to get my mind ready for almost an 8 hour day. That's one chapel, four classes, two small breaks, and one big coffee. hmm, coffee. Here's a shout out to all the coffee lovers out there, i know i couldn't go on with my day if i don't get at least my one cup of coffee in.

This is a photograph I took yesterday for an idea for my silk screen print image. These are some ballet shoes, proudly worn for years by my roommate Hilary G. I don't think I've seen anyone look more graceful when dancing in ballet shoes. I have actually done a painting and a drawing in pencil with a similar perspective of shoes. Most of my artwork deals with designs, nature, or foods in lots of color. It's never too late for a challenge, and with each project I try to use or do something that I normally would not do so I can see how comfortable I am with a new medium or material. Of course I want to keep my own individual style in my work, and I feel there's nothing better than color.

I should probably keep this short though because I'm in class where my professor is actually talking about making a blog. Until then,

First One Ever

Well I suppose there is always a first time for everything right? There's not much going on today, just another Thursday night. I'm sitting here with my roommates: Sarah, Leah and Hilary. What can I say about these girls? They are probably the best thing that has ever happened to me in my college years. Kristen is just like a fifth roommate and spends more time here than her own apartment, but I know that I couldn't have made it this far being away from my family without these girls. So to continue a little more about myself. I was born in Guatemala City and only stayed there for about four months before my family decided to migrate to the United States. We first made it to Florida, stayed there for a few weeks then moved to Washington DC. An unfortunate shooting happened in our building with just being a few months there, so of course my father decided to move to Baltimore where we have currently been living for the past seventeen years. But the for the past almost four years I have been attending a University in the suburbs of Chicago. I began as an Art major with a concentration in Photography, but after one semester i decided to switch to Art Education and continued that path until my first semester as a Senior and changed to a Drawing/Illustration. I have enjoyed creating all types of art, everything from painting, drawing, 3D designs, photography, printmaking, graphics, and to combining all above. Well it's Grey's Anatomy tonight, I think I'm going to like this blogging thing.
